Annual Feast - 2013
The annual feast of Infant Jesus shrine of Viveknagar was celebrated exuberantly at its shrine premises, here on Friday, January 14.
Thousands of people from different parts of the state and even from outside the state took part in the annual celebration. Being the 40th year since the shrine started, it was celebrated with extra fever and enthusiasm.
People come to pay a visit to the shrine irrespective of religion. Speaking on the occasion the Archbishop Most. Rev. Bernard Moras highlighted the process of a catechetic which takes place from womb to tomb, birth to death. They enrich the whole church, he added.
Governor H. R Bhardwaj said Christian missionaries have done a lot for the country especially in the field of education. Jesus Christ came to the world for a purpose and he fulfilled the purpose by giving his life, he added.
Later the governor started the decorated car which carried the statue of Infant Jesus in a procession. Thousands of people thronged to the place. Governor Dr Hans Raj Bhardwaj, Archbishop of Bangalore Most. Rev. Bernard Moras, special guest commissioner of police Shankar Bidari and local MLAs Harris, Derek and Ramalinga reddy, among others were present. flag-hoisting ceremony marks the nine days of novena, an institutional act of devotion in the Roman Catholic Church. In this period, there are regular prayers in various local languages and the festival concludes with the feast.
