In the mid sixties, the Sacred Heart Parish had far flung areas like Sonnanahalli (now vivekanagar), Vannarpet, Neelasandra, Austin Town Layout, Anapalya and Egipura which proved unwieldy for pastoral care. Rev. Fr. Paul Kinatukara, the then Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, felt the urgent need for bifurcation. A vigorous search for suitable land did not bear immediate fruit.
On suggestion, he prayed to Infant Jesus of Prague for help in his quest for land. Most miraculously in 1969, in answer to his prayer, a plot measuring 4.5 acres of agricultural land in Sonnanahalli was bought. Most Rev. Dr. D. S. Lourduswamy the then Archbishop of Bangalore, laid the foundation for a new church on 18th April, 1969.

O Miraculous Infant Jesus, we prostrate before Your sacred image and beseech You
to cast a merciful look on our troubled hearts. Let Your tender Heart,
so inclined to show mercy, be softened by our prayers and grant us that grace for which we ardently implore You.
(Mention requests/petitions)
Take from us all affliction and despair and misfortunes with which we are laden.
For Your Sacred Infancy's sake, hear our prayers and send us consolation and aid
that we may praise You with the Father and the Holy Spirit, for ever and ever. Amen.

The Christmas Crib which is a visual representation of the Gospel story of Jesus’s birth was prepared by the youth of our parish. We were privileged to have Baby Jesus placed in the manger, symbolizing God becoming human and coming in poverty and humility to save the humanity by his Grace Rev Dr Peter Machado , the Metropolitan Archbishop of Bengaluru during the Christmas Eve mass on 24th December 2025. The Crib is a way to help us to see and feel the poverty and humility of Christ’s birth
On 24th December 2025, the newly renovated shrine of Infant Jesus along with the renovated community halls and Pilgrim Rooms was blessed and inaugurated by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Bengaluru Rev Dr Peter Machado
Today thousands of devotees visit the Infant Jesus Shrine every Thursday.
The presence of the Miraculous statue of Infant Jesus has brought deliverance to many and all the devotees have received numerous favours and blessings.
It was God’s plan to have our Parish Priest and Rector Fr John Anthony along with a donor who is an ardent devotee of Infant Jesus to be entrusted with this divine plan of renovating the shrine as a gratitude for all the blessings and graces he and his family has received.
As we inaugurate the renovated shrine, we would like to Thank God, for all the graces showered upon us to complete the renovation work successfully, we also would like to greatly appreciate the work of all who were involved in this renovation work.
We pray that Infant Jesus may continue to bless them abundantly now and forever.
